Talladega, Alabama

The claim: Federal prison "satellite" camp.

What it really is: Yes, there is a Federal prison camp there that is adjacent to a Federal prison called the Federal Correctional Institution, Talladega. The prison camp is minimum security, and the prison itself is medium security.

This is all public knowledge. Nothing is being hidden here.

Maxwell AFB (Montgomery), Alabama

The claim: Civilian prison camp established under Operation Garden Plot, currently operating with support staff and small inmate population.

What it really is: Yes, there is a prison camp there. It's called the Federal Prison Camp, Montgomery, and it's operated by the Federal Bureau of Prisons, and it's minimum security.

As for the "Operation Garden Plot" claim, it's bogus because Operation Garden Plot never established any prisons.

Ft. McClellan (Anniston), Alabama

The claim: Opposite side of town from Army Depot;

What it really is: The base closed down in 1999. It is now operated by the Alabama National Guard, and is also home to the Center for Domestic Preparedness.

The former fort is also home to the Mountain Longleaf National Wildlife Refuge, and 10,000 acres of the of the land in now under development for residential, commercial, industrial, retail, and educational use.

Monday, January 28, 2013

Aliceville, Alabama

The claim: WWII German POW camp - capacity 15,000

What it really is: Yes, it is true that a German POW camp was located there, but it only had a capacity of 6,000, not 15,000, and the only remaining structure of the original camp is a fire place and it's chimney.

Opelika, Alabama

The claim: Military compound either in or very near town.

What it really is: That would be the Army National Guard Military Recruiting Office. It's located at 300 Consumer Ave. Opelika, AL 36801.

Laramie, Wyoming

The claim: FEMA detention facility

What it really is: Using Google maps I've seen several several building there (mainly schools and warehouses) that to a conspiracy theorist might actually misidentify as a FEMA camp.

The population of the city is also growing, and now has over 31,000 people. Considering the amount of people living there, it's doubtful such a facility could actually remain hidden without getting much more attention.

Heart Mountain, Wyoming

The claim: Park County N. of Cody - WWII Japanese interment camp ready for renovation.

What it really is: The Heart Mountain Relocation Center (that is it's actually name) was named as a National Historical Landmark in 2007.

The Federal Bureau of Reclamation currently owns 74 acres of the land there, while the Heart Mountain Wyoming Foundation, a non-profit organization established in 1996 to memorialize the center's internees and to interpret the site's historical significance, owns the remaining 50 acres.

Currently a museum called the Heart Mountain Wyoming Interpretive Learning Center is also located there as well.

The site is open to the public.

Guayanabo, Puerto Rico

The claim: Federal prison camp facility. Capacity unknown.

What it really is: I think they're actually referring to Guaynabo, Puerto Rico. The municipality does have a Federal prison there called the Metropolitan Detention Center. There is no prison camp there, and it's capacity is known (which is 1725).

Oxford, Wisconsin

The claim: Central part of state - Federal prison & satellite camp and FEMA detention facility.

What it really is: There is a Federal prison with a prison camp there. It is a medium security prison, and the prison camp is minimum security. The prison holds about 1,000 prisoners in it, with 200 people in the prison camp.

All of this is public knowledge, and the camp is not run by FEMA.

Friday, January 25, 2013

Umatilla, Oregon

The claim: New prison spotted.

What it really is: Most likely it would be the Two Rivers Correctional Institution, which completed construction in 2000 and holds minimum to medium security prisoners, and is run by the Oregon Department of Corrections.

Sheridan, Oregon

The claim: Federal prison satellite camp northwest of Salem.

Other claim: FEMA detention center.

What it really is: Yes, there is a Federal prison camp there. It's minimum security, and is part of a medium security prison. This is all publicly known.

As for the FEMA detention center claim, most likely it's the same minimum to medium security prison as stated above.

It should also be noted that this is the only Federal prison in Oregon.

Josephine County, Oregon

The claim: WWII Japanese internment camp ready for renovation.

What it really is: Completely and total made up. There was never a Japanese internment camp there. Ever.

Wednesday, January 23, 2013

Fort McCoy, Wisconsin

The claim: Rex 84 facility with several complete interment compounds.

What it really is: It is a army and National Guard training center that has been around since 1909.

The base trains around 100,000 people a year, and at times up to 150,000 people a year, so multiple barracks are needed, and in fact in the 1990's a major construction project was undertaken there costing $140 million.

Whether or not it was used as a Rex 84 facility is unknown and irrelevant.

Petersburg, Virginia

The claim: Federal satellite prison camp, south of Richmond.

What it really is: The place is called the Federal Correctional Complex.

It houses 3,400 inmates and is in two sections. One houses minimum-security inmates, and the other (and larger of the two) houses medium-security inmates. All of this is publicly known.

Charleston, South Carolina

The claim: Naval Reserve & Air Force base, restricted area on naval base.

What it really is: The actual name of it is called Joint Base Charleston, and there is no Naval Reserve there.

Most military bases have restricted areas not open to the public. This one would be no exception, especially considering that the Air Mobility Command (AMC), the Naval Nuclear Power Training Command (NNPTC) Southern Division, and the Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) are all located there.

Greenville, South Carolina

The claim: Unoccupied youth prison camp; total capacity unknown.

What it really is: I can't actually find a youth prison camp there. There is the Greenville County Juvenile Detention Center, which is still occupied.

Monday, January 21, 2013

Black Hills Nat'l Forest, South Dakota

The claim: north of Edgemont, southwest part of state. WWII internment camp being renovated.

What it really is: No World War 2 internment camp, and I know this for a fact because there were never any World War 2 internment camps at all in the state of South Dakota (nor any POW camps).

Yankton, South Dakota

The claim: Federal prison camp

What it really is: Yes, there is a federal prison camp there. It's minimum security and was named one of the 10 cushiest prisons in America in 2009 by Forbes.

Tonopah Test Range, Nevada

The claim: None, just listed as a possible FEMA camp site

What it really is: Also known as Area 52, it's a restricted military installation, often times claimed to be associated and apart of Area 51.

Due to the fact of it's secretive nature (even the name of it's commander is classified) it would probably be natural for a conspiracy theorist to claim a FEMA camp is there. The fact that it's associated with other conspiracy theories only helps confirm, in their minds, that particular base would be the location of a FEMA camp, even through they have no clue what is there.

Nevada Test Site, Nevada

The claim: None, it's just listed a possible site.

What it really is: Now called the Nevada National Security Site, it was established in 1951 by President Harry Truman as a place to test nuclear weapons, and was used as recently as December 7, 2012 to conduct nuclear tests (be it underground and not an explosive type).

The site is also open to monthly tours to the public as well.

Due to the fact that there is a lack information on this alleged FEMA camp site, and the fact that it is open to the public, it just seems highly unlikely that a FEMA camp would be located here.

Nellis AFB, Nevada

The claim: is just north of Las Vegas on Hwy 604.

What it really is: It's an Air Force that has been around since 1941.

Besides having several major air units, it's other main purposes is for training and testing.

Nellis most likely wouldn't have a FEMA there due to the that fact it would be hard to hide in the first place. Not only is it near the city of Las Vegas, it's also being constantly watch by UFO hunters who think that it is connect to Area 51, so the base is already being constantly watch by people who think that the government is hiding alien spaceships out in the middle of the dessert.

Waste Isolation Pilot Plant, New Mexico

The claim: none, just listed in FEMA camp location websites.

What it really is: It's the third largest deep geological repository licensed to permanently dispose of transuranic radioactive waste in the world. The storage area is 650 meters below ground and has enough room to continue accepting nuclear waste for another 25 to 35 years.

Simply due to the sheer nature of what is stored here, I would hope the place would be as secured as a maximum security prison.

Sandia National Laboratories, New Mexico

The claim: None, just listed on FEMA camp websites.

What it really is: Sandia National Laboratories is operated by the Sandia Corporation, which is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Lockheed Martin Corporation. The laboratory's mission is to maintain the reliability and surety of nuclear weapon systems, conduct research and development in arms control and nonproliferation technologies, and investigate methods for the disposal of the United States' nuclear weapons program's hazardous waste, amongst the development of sciences and technology. The laboratory also employes 8,400 people, mainly scientists and engineers.

Due to the lack of information and the unlikeliness that a prison camp would ever be set up at a place like this, the odds of a FEMA camp being here is zero.

Roswell AFB, New Mexico

The claim: No claim made, just listed on FEMA camp websites as a possible location of a FEMA Camp.

What it really is: Actually it was called Walker Air Force Base, and it was closed down in 1967. It has since been redeveloped by civil authorities into the Roswell International Air Center, and Eastern New Mexico University has built a large campus on the west side of the base. Also, many of the old buildings there are being used for private interests, and many other buildings have been torn down since it was closed.

There would be no way to hide a FEMA camp here.

Los Alamos National Laboratory, New Mexico

The claim: None has been listed other then it being on several websites that list locations of alleged FEMA camps.

What it really is: LANL is one of two laboratories in the United States where classified work towards the design of nuclear weapons is undertaken. It also conducts research into other fields as well, such as national security, space exploration, renewable energy, medicine, nanotechnology, and supercomputing. LANL has over 9,000 employees working for it, as well as 650 contractor personnel and 120 Department of Energy personnel to provide federal oversight of LANL's work and operations. Professional scientists and students also come to Los Alamos as visitors to participate in scientific projects. The staff collaborates with universities and industry in both basic and applied research to develop resources for the future.

Taking all of this into account if FEMA camps were real, it seems highly unlikely that they would be set up at LANL (it just doesn't make any sense to place a prison where the nation's most high tech military technology is developed, because if a prison riot was ever to to occur there is just to much of a chance the lab would get taken over). Plus, due to the sheer fact that no information even exists at all about this alleged FEMA camp leads me to believe that this location is entirely made up.

Kirtland AFB/Kirtland Underground Munitions Storage Complex, New Mexico

The claim: None that I can find, it's just listed as a possible location.

What it really is: The lack of any "information" makes me believe that this was picked simply because it's a well known military base.

Perhaps the reason why the claim is being made is because of the large amount of military aircraft and personal there, or the fact the it's in the middle of the dessert, or the fact that it's a testing site, or the fact that the Nuclear Weapons Center, and that around 2,000 nuclear weapons are stored there.

Regardless, the lack of any solid, or even loose claims, shows that this location was made-up simply because it is a high profiled military base.

White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico

The claim: Currently being used as a storage facility for United Nations vehicles and equipment. Observers have seen this material brought in on the Whitesands rail spur in Oro Grande New Mexico about thirty miles from the Texas, New Mexico Border.

What it really is: White Sands Missile Range is the largest military base in the United States and is used as the military's and NASA's primary rocket range, and is the site for the Orion Project Launch Abort Flight Test Complex. Several areas there are also National Historic Landmarks and Sites, thus open to the public.

So far there is no evidence at all to confirm that any vehicles or equipment used by the United Nations is being stored there, and these claims go back at least as far as 1999 from what I have found. In fact it's the exact same claim, word by word.

Also, Oro Grande (spelled Orogrande) does not have any rail going through it, and is very small (it has only around 50 people).

Lordsburg, New Mexico

The claim: Not a great deal of information concerning the Lordsburg location.

What it really is: The place did once have a Japanese internment camp, but it was closed in 1943. It was later reopened and used as a German and Italian POW camp from 1943 to 1945. The facility was closed down entirely in 1946. Currently the only thing that is left of the camp is concrete rubble.

Fort Stanton, New Mexico

The claim: currently being used as a youth detention facility approximately 35 miles north of Ruidoso, New Mexico.

What it really is: Fort Stanton is neither used as a youth detention facility, nor is it north of Ruidoso. It's actually south-east of Ruidoso.

The fort is now an historical site, and is no longer used by the military, although it was used at one time to intern German POWs.

Currently it is a popular site for military reenactments and recreational horse riding.

Holloman AFB (Alomogordo), New Mexico

The claim: Home of the German Luftwaffe in Amerika; major UN base. New facility being built on this base, according to recent visitors. Many former USAF buildings have been torn down by the busy and rapidly growing German military force located here.

What it really is: The claim about the German Luftwaffe being there is in fact true, and they do have their own training tactical center (which was established in May 1996) but the Luftwaffe uses the space as a training facility only. This information is publicly known. There are about 600 German personnel there as of 2007, but these numbers can either increase to as much as 900, or decrease, depending on the actual training needs.

While NATO allies have been offered to use the base for training, the UN has not, and there is UN troop presence there at all.

It wouldn't surprise me if many of the buildings have been torn down and replaced, as the base has been around since World War 2, and many old buildings from that era tend to need to be replaced from time to time, plus many of the most modern and high tech air craft of the air force are flown out from there, and thus there is a need for modern and high tech buildings to support these aircraft, and in many cases it is just more cost effective to replace rather then upgrade these building (sometimes it's the only thing that can be done).

Ft. Bliss, New Mexico

The claim: This base actually straddles Texas state line. Just south of Alomogordo, Ft. Bliss has thousands of acres for people who refuse to go with the "New Order".

What it really is: The base does not straddle the Texas state line. In fact a large part of the base is in Texas.

The base is in fact the second largest army base in the United States, as well as one of the oldest. Despite it's sheer size and location, it doesn't mean that it will be used for some sort of interment camp, and of course the claim never says there is an actual prison camp there. There are also lots of civilian activities that can be done there as well.

Ft. Dix / McGuire AFB, New Jersey

The claim: Possible deportation point for detainees. Lots of pictures taken of detention compounds and posted on Internet, this camp is well-known. Facility is now complete and ready for occupancy.

What it really is: It's actually called the Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, which was formed in October 1, 2009 as a result of a merger of the United States Air Force's McGuire Air Force Base, the United States Army's Fort Dix and the United States Navy's Naval Air Engineering Station Lakehurst.

Despite the claims of there being numerous photos of a prison camp there, I can't find any of them. In fact satellite photos of the base doesn't show anything at all that resembles a prison or a prison camp.

Edit: Fort Dix does have a Federal prison there, but it's minimum security, and it only holds 4250 prisoners.

Thanks to AutisticSkeptic for the info.

Northern New Hampshire, New Hampshire / Vermont

The claim: near Lake Francis. No additional data.

What it really is: Lake Francis is an man made lake and reservoir.

After looking at satellite of lake photos of the lake I can find nothing there that would resemble a prison camp like facility. The lack of data clearly shows that who ever first claimed there was a prison camp there simply made it up from a random location.

Tuesday, January 15, 2013

Millard County, Utah

The claim: Central Utah - WWII Japanese camp. (Renovated?)

What it really is: There is a Japanese interment camp in Millard County called Topaz War Relocation Center. It's open to the public, and even has it's own museum called the Topaz Museum.

Ft. A.P. Hill (Fredericksburg), Virginia

The claim: Rex 84 / FEMA facility. Estimated capacity 45,000.

What it really is: First, it's located near Bowling Green, Virginia, not Fredericksburg, Virginia.

The fort, while it is an army base, is also used for year around training for all branches of the military, as well as other government agencies, thus new and upgraded facilities are commonly needed there.

While it's not actually known whether or not A.P. Hill was actually used for Rex 84 training exercises, there are multiple civilian events that occur there, most notably the Boy Scouts of America's National Jamboree, which it hosted from 1981 to 2010, and usually hosts tens of thousands of children and teenagers, and no one has ever said they saw giant prison camp there.

If there really was a FEMA camp there, then why would the government allow thousands of civilians there every four years to camp out?

Monday, January 14, 2013

Stillwater Naval Air Station, Nevada

The claim: east of Reno. No additional data.

What it really is: Besides the clearly poor research that's been done due to the lack of data, it's not even called the Stillwater Naval Air Station, it's called Naval Air Station Fallon, it's only near a road called Stillwater Ave., there are areas around it that is accessible to the public, and it even contains it's own museum.

It's not exactly a place the government can hide a secret prison at...

Sunday, January 13, 2013

Nellis Air Force Range, Nevada

The claim: Northwest from Las Vegas on Route 95. Nellis AFB is just north of Las Vegas on Hwy 604.

What it really is: First, it's no longer called the Nellis Air Force Range, it's called the Nevada Test and Training Range.

The site was also used for nuclear tests between 1957 to 1963 and some areas are still contaminated from those tests. The site is still used to as test and hold simulate air warfare exercises there every year with NATO called RED FLAG, as well as Green Flag, a warfare exercise emphasizing the electronic aspects of airborne warfare.

It should be noted that Area 51 is there, and because of the top secret level security that goes on there and myths that go along with Area 51 it may have lead some conspiracy theorists to believe that this would be a natural place to put a interment camp.

Saturday, January 12, 2013

Winnemucca, Nevada

The claim: Battle Mountain area - at the base of the mountains.

What it really is: The only thing nearby that could even come close to probably being mistaken for a FEMA camp, and in the general location where one is claimed to be is the Dyno Noble Explosives Plant, which makes explosives for commercial use.

Pershing County, Nevada

The claim: Camp is located at I-80 mile marker 112, south side of the highway, about a mile back on the county road and then just off the road about 3/4mi.

What it really is: The only thing I found around there while looking on Google maps was a big rig depot and a small warehouse with a few trailers around it.

Wells, Nevada

The claim: Camp is located in the O'Niel basin area, 40 miles north of Wells, past Thousand Springs, west off Hwy 93 for 25 miles.

What it really is: I've looked on Google maps in satellite view, and other then a few roads and a near by bed and breakfast place, I can find nothing there what so ever. There is no prison camp or anything of the like located there. It's just barren land.

Friday, January 11, 2013

Camp Perry, Ohio

The claim: Site renovated; once used as a POW camp to house German and Italian prisoners of WWII. Some tar paper covered huts built for housing these prisoners are still standing. Recently, the construction of multiple 200-man barracks have replaced most of the huts.

What it really is: Built in 1909, Camp Perry is a National Guard training base, and it was once used to house German and Italian POWs during World War 2. After the war prisoner quarters were converted back to be used by transient personnel who were at Camp Perry for training.

Many of Camp Perry's original structures are still there, so renovating these buildings are necessary. Also, while some structures would need to be renovated, others (such as barracks) sometimes need to be replaced, so considering the age of this place, construction of new barracks are not unusual, especially if any of them were damaged in the June 24, 1998 tornado that did damage several buildings there.

It should also be noted that Camp Perry is the host of the Civilian Marksmanship Program and the NRA-sponsored National Rifle Matches, and has so since 1907.

Seems pretty odd that a place that is suppose to be a FEMA camp hosts an NRA event every year...

Thursday, January 10, 2013

Minot AFB, North Dakota

The claim: Home of UN air group. More data needed on facility.

What it really is: Minot Air Force Base, located in Ward County, North Dakota, is the home of the the 5th Bomb Wing and 91st Missile Wing, both of which are part of the Air Force Global Strike Command.

The base also only has about a little over 5,500 people on it as of 2010 (which is a decline of 27.3% from 2000) not all of which are military personal. Many families of military personal live on the base as well, including children. There are even two elementary schools and one middle school located on the base.

There is no UN air group there, nor has there ever been one. If there was one there it would very hard to hide it due to the large amount of civilians there, who's silence is never guaranteed. Also the fact that more data is needed kind of lets me know that whomever claimed this is probably making this up, or has seriously misidentified what they saw.

Wednesday, January 9, 2013

Elko, Nevada

The claim: Ten miles south of town.

What it really is: The main thing that is ten miles south of that town is the South Fork State Recreation Area and the South Fork Reservoir. According to it's website it's a tourist attraction, and attracts a large number or hunters, boaters, campers, etc. It's not exactly the ideal place to hide a prison camp.

What is a FEMA Camp?

A FEMA camp is a place that many conspiracy theorists (particularly those who consider themselves to be part of the Sovereign Citizen/Patriot Movement) believe that the US government is plans to send millions of American citizens to in the near future. Here is thing: these places do not exist.

Most of these places are misidentified (intentionally or unintentionally) and has no prisons at all located on them. A few of these places are real prisons, but are run by the federal or state prison systems, and not by FEMA.

Regardless of what they are, and regardless of how much a person might believe they are real, the fact is that FEMA camps simply are not real.

In this blog I intend to debunk these places and to show people that there is literally nothing to fear.

P.S. A special thanks to Jeffery Newell for providing me with many locations of alleged FEMA camps.
